"Do you accept insurance or provide a receipt that I can submit to my insurance company?" +

I am an in-network provider for Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance. I am an out-of-network provider for all other insurance and will provide you with an itemized receipt that you can submit to your insurance company. Please note that career counseling is not covered by insurance.

“What methods of payment do you accept? Do you have a preferred method of payment?” +

I accept cash, checks and all major credit cards

“Do clients pay in advance or after the session or training is completed?” +

At the end of your first session, I will ask you for a credit card to keep on file in my secure online payment system. This can be used for payment for sessions and it allows us to spend more time in the session focusing on your goals instead of worrying about payment. You can also elect to pay by cash or check. All payment is due at the end of each session.

“How quickly can a client move from contacting you to the first session?” +

I can typically see a new client within 2 weeks, and at times within 1 week.

“What is your cancellation policy?” +

If you need to cancel for any reason I ask that you give me at least a 24 hours’ notice. This allows me to open up the session time for another client in need of an appointment. If you cancel less than 24 hours in advance, your card on file will be billed for the full cost of the session. I understand that on rare occasions an emergency may not allow you to cancel in time, in such cases, you will not be billed. Please note that insurance does not reimburse for cancellations.

“How long are sessions?” +

My sessions are a standard 50-minute clinical hour.

“Do you meet with clients on evenings or weekends?” +

Because I know that work schedules vary and can impact availability, I offer early morning appointments as well as Saturday appointments.

“Where is your office for Brathwaite Psychological Consulting, PLLC?” +

My office is conveniently located near most major subway lines as well as PATH and New Jersey Transit. The office is in a pre-war building and the suite is artfully decorated, colorful yet soothing to the senses.

“You offer counseling and coaching. How do I know what is best for me?” +

Though related, counseling and coaching are two distinct types of relationships. During our initial consultation we will discuss which modality will best fit your needs. If we begin coaching and it appears that you are in need of therapy, I will assist you with referrals to another professional. I offer career counseling, career testing, leadership and career coaching and counseling in person in my New York City office. My life coaching services can be done in person or via my secure videoconferencing system if you do not live in the New York City area
